AUTHOR_STATEMENT: Original geological survey at the 1:63 360 scale by H.T. de la Beche, J. Phillips, D.H. Williams, A.C. Ramsey, W.T. Aveline and J. Rees Jnr. Published as parts of sheets 40 and 58 in 1845 and 1850 with revisions in 1857. Resurveyed at 1:10 000 scale by J.R. Davies, R.A. Waters, P.R. Wilby and D. Wilson in1995-99, and a small area by C.J.N. Fletcher in 1994. Surveying undertaken as part of the Afon Teifi Catchment Survey Project in 1995-7 was partly funded by Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and the former Dyfed county councils and the Environment Agency Wales. Surveying undertaken as part of the St Dogmaels Landslip Investigation in 1994 was partly funded by Pembrokeshire County Council. Biostratigraphy by S. Molyneux, A.W.A. Rushton and M.
