AUTHOR_STATEMENT: Original geological survey on the one-inch scale by Sir Henry De la Beche on Old Series Sheets 21 and 26. published before 1845. Resurveyed mainly on the one-inch scale. with some work on the six-inch scale in the Bampton area, by W.A.E. Ussher. 1871-97. This Provisional Edition is based partly on Ussher's resurvey (Area A on key map) and on geological survey on the six-inch scale by Dr. J.M. Thomas of London and Exeter Universities in 1957-62 (Area B on key map) and Dr. E.E. Swarbrick of London University in 1959-61 (Area C on key map). Compiled by J.E. Wright in 1967. G. Bisson.
