AUTHOR_STATEMENT: Original geological survey on the one-inch scale by Sir Henry De la Beche on Old Series Sheets 20, 21, 26 and 27, published before 1845. Re-survey on the one-inch scale by W.A.E. Ussher. J.H. Blake. H.W. Bristow and H.B. Woodward in 1871-9. This Provisional Edition is based on the revised Old Series Sheets and on geological survey on the six-inch scale by Dr. B.D. Webby of Bristol University in 1959-62 (Brendon Hills area) and by Mr. M.D. Lucas of Bristol University in 1957-9 and Dr. E.E. Swarbrick of London University in 1959-61 (areas south of Dulverton).
