Tiddeman, and J.C. Ward published in 1893. Partially resurveyed at 1:10 560 scale by I.C. Burgess and A.J. Wadge in 1965-6. Resurveyed at 1:10 000 scale by M. McCormac, R.A. Hughes, D.G. Woodhall, B. Beddoe-Stephens, D. Millward, P. Stone and S.C. Loughlin in 1994-2000; by A.M. Bell under a BGS contract in 1995-6. Additional information on the Alston Formation from C.R.
